Democrats are poised to unveil their budget proposal on Wednesday, one that would raise the nation’s debt limit and reduce spending for the fiscal year.
A Senate GOP aide told The Hill that a Senate Finance Committee hearing on the plan is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Democrats would have to find some money to pay for it.
In fiscal year 2018, Congress would have had $15.8 trillion in available spending and revenue, the aide said.
Democrats are looking for more than $8 trillion.
The aide said the debt limit would be an important part of the budgeting process.
